About KNAL
Katy Needs a Life, often abbreviated as KNAL, is a captivating and emotionally-charged sad pop band hailing from Kalamazoo, MI. Their music has been touching hearts and souls for an impressive 17 years. The project initially began in 2007 as a solo endeavor by the talented lead songwriter, synth player, and singer, Katy May. Her hauntingly poignant lyrics and soulful melodies caught the attention of many, gradually building a loyal fan base.
In 2016, KNAL took a transformative step and evolved into a full band, solidifying their presence in the music scene. Joining Katy May are Jake Simmons, a skilled drummer, Reggi Myers on bass and backing vocals, and David Bolema on guitar. Together, they've created a sound that seamlessly blends pop and rock, delivering a powerful emotional punch in every performance.
KNAL's live shows offer two distinct experiences. Katy May continues to mesmerize audiences with her energetic solo performances, which are often likened to hype parties with captivating lights, dance-inducing beats, and mesmerizing projections. On the other hand, when the full band takes the stage, their music takes a heavier and rock-forward turn, creating an electrifying atmosphere that resonates with fans on a profound level. Their shows are known to evoke intense emotions, moving the audience to tears as they connect with the raw vulnerability in their songs.
